In the era of information explosion, data visualization is a powerful tool to help people obtain information efficiently, and academic research on data visualization also develops rapidly. Visualization conference is an important communication activity in the academic field. Here is the development of visualization conferences from 1990 to 2015.
Each ⬤ in the figure below represents one paper accepted for the visual conference. Their positions are spread out according to the year they attended, with the size of the circle representing the number of authors and the shade of color representing the number of citations. Through this visualization page, we can see that the field of visualization has developed rapidly in recent years, more and more people have begun to conduct research in this field, and more papers have been cited (more darker circles). Click one to learn more about that paper!
We cite the Fig. 2 from Vispubdata: A Metadata Collection about IEEE Visualization (VIS) Publications to provide the timeline and the relationship between all the conference, and the origin data is also from this paper.
The number of citations we used was the maximum of the Aminer data set (DBLP-Citation) and IEEEXplore citations, and the number of citations was counted up to 2015. We believe that the citation statistics of DBLP and IEEE may not be comprehensive, so the maximum value can reflect the citation situation of the paper.
